Open discussions of genealogy methods, Texas genealogy, lineages, history and success stories is encouraged. This is not a monitored list, BUT, you are responsible for not going too far off-subject. Remember, if you send your message to Texas-Roots-L@rootsweb.com, it will go to everyone on the list. If you stay on-subject then most of your responses should of interest to the whole list. But, you can keep personal responses... Personal, by replying only to the sender. Don't expect your list maintainer to get involved a lot, as this list maintainer likes to just be thought of as just another subscriber with many responsibilities and little "spare" time! 

DO NOT send virus warnings, chain letters, etc. to TEXAS-ROOTS-L. General "commercial" offerings, URL's to non Texas related sites are discouraged and abuse will not be tolorated. If you think something questionable but might be important enough for the whole list to receive, send it to me and I will consider forwarding it to the list. As with all Rootsweb Mailing Lists, messages must be sent as "plain text" so be sure to turn off html formatting before sending messages to Texas-Roots-L. Flame wars will NOT be allowed!! I reserve the right to remove anyone who is detrimental to the purpose of this list. If flaming starts, the list maintainer won't warn more than once, but will just unsubscribe the offenders, let them cool their heals, and they can resubscribe if they choose.  If they repeat themselves, they will be banned!  Any message regarding genealogy or history in this region is encouraged.  If you have a problem with something on the list, please e-mail the list maintainer privately and the situation will be reviewed.

Since there is sometimes confusion as to which e-mail address to send "SUBSCRIBE" & "UNSUBSCRIBE" information to and sometimes the copy of the List Welcome Letter gets lost, I will try to make it as easy as possible. I will leave this page in place. You can even save a copy of this whole page to a folder on your hard disk and send messages through your browser.

If, YES, .......first, please remember to turn off all signatures, tag-lines, etc. If you are required to put something in the "Subject" area then just put a ( . ) period.

PLEASE NOTE:

1. Be sure to include your name and email address in the signature or text of each message. It's a good habit for all Email.
2. Make your messages as specific as possible. Examples:
   Where is John Doe buried?
   What was Mrs. Mary Jones' maiden name?
   We may already know from the Surname List that you are researching DOE & JONES but we don't what you already have and what you really need.
3. VERY IMPORTANT.......... If you are going to change ISP's or EMail addresses, always remember to UNSUB from all "LISTS" before you change. You CANNOT "UNSUB" from the new address. After your change is completed, then Re-SUB to the LISTS'.
